Several leading research providers from across Australia are currently engaging with METS and mining companies to develop a Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) bid, entitled Mining Industry 4.0 (MI4).

MI4’s mission is to ‘Achieve a step change in the adoption of Industry 4.0 principles to the METS and mining sectors, moving from siloed value chain components to trusted systems integration’.  This is expected to greatly improve the conversion rates of Australia’s ‘mineral resources’ to ‘ore reserves’, and the safety and productivity of operations across the mining value chain.  Further information on the MI4 CRC bid (including the prospectus) can be found at the MI4 webpage.

The bid team are currently in the process of identifying and contacting Mining and METS companies, who they think might be interested in supporting an MI4 CRC.  If you would like to express interest, or learn more about this exciting development, please contact the bid leader Professor Adrian Pearce (adrianrp@unimelb.edu.au or +61 3 83441399).
